ESSINGTON, PA – (July 14, 2020) – All-State Career School in Essington has announced it will expand its current offering of dental programs to include an Associate of Specialized Technology (AST) degree in Dental Hygiene. Classes will begin on October 5, 2020.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the demand for dental services will increase as the population ages and research continues to link oral health to overall health. The 84-week Dental Hygiene program was launched to support the growing need for Dental Hygienists in southeastern Pennsylvania. Courses will be offered at the Health Science Main Campus in Essington.
“Good oral health is paramount to maintaining overall health, making Dental Hygienists the frontlines of preventative care,” said All-State Career School in Essington Dental Hygiene Dean Lori Riedel. “I am pleased to be involved in the launch of this program and welcome our future students.”
The Dental Hygiene program at All-State Career School in Essington provides a combination of classroom, laboratory and clinical instruction, and prepares students to sit for their state licensure exam following completion. To prepare for the program, the campus enlarged its floor plan to include an expansive dental clinic, offering clinical experience to students and preventative dental care to patients.
Dental Hygienists who successfully complete the program and pass the state licensure will be responsible for cleaning teeth, assisting with dental procedures, and educating patients on how to improve and maintain oral health. In addition to dental offices, graduates of the program will find opportunities to work in a wide range of environments including clinical, corporate, public health, research and education settings.
“Dental Hygienists are critical to supporting the success of dental practices across southeast Pennsylvania,” remarked All-State Career School in Essington Campus President Edward Rito. “We look forward to continuing the great success of our dental programs and providing our Essington students with this rewarding career opportunity.”
